INTO THE WOODS
August 3-28th 2016
Reception: Thursday August 4th 2016, 7-9pm

Sunlight flickers through dark leaves; shadows shift, changing shape, matching my movements, as I walk through the woods. Everything is calm and yet constantly moving, growing, breathing – alive. I sense the footsteps of other creatures all around me on the dark path. I have come here to be alone, but also to be re-energized and fed by the growing world around me.
I can almost glimpse figures coming out of the shadows. They are playful, melancholy, shy, bold, and flirtatious, encouraging me to go deeper into the woods and deeper into myself. I am not the first to sense these beings. They are the nymphs, elves, and fairies who have been living in the trees since time began. Across cultures, in dozens of languages, these creatures populate stories of transformation and the unknown. And if you walk quietly, and look carefully, perhaps you will see them too.
