Abstractions is a solo exhibition by Toronto based abstract painter Dimitri van Kampen. A collection of stunning rich and textural large-scale oil paintings.
Dimitri van Kampen's abstract oil paintings feature strong brush strokes and pallet knife applications as well as scraping techniques using squeegees, spatulas, and trowels. The subtle blending and blurring of colours and often thick and textured surface of his abstracts are created through a process of adding and removing layers. His abstracts are intended to envelop the viewer through contemplative or meditative absorption, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in the visual environment of the painted canvas, experience a sense of intimacy, and a transcendence of both the painting and the individual.
906 Queen St West, Toronto
Exhibition Hours: Thurs, Fri, Sat 12-6pm & Sunday 12-4pm
