November 4th - 30th, 2011
Reception: Friday November 4th, 7-9PM
Combining animal heads on human bodies, my artwork is a metaphorical examination of what it is to be human. The Anthropomorphic figures draw a parallel between the animal world and the human world. This allows the themes and emotions expressed throughout my art to be understood universally rather than specifically. Much like an Aesop Fable or native legend, Crow and Fox are simply stand- ins for me, you, or anyone.
With these ‘characters’ in place I choose to explore the more difficult and challenging aspects of being human. Themes involving grief, loss, fear, mental disorders, phobias and anxieties are but a few of many emotional and cognitive experiences that
we all as humans deal with at some point in, or throughout, our lives. "
